Ashley Benning
Coach’s Thoughts: Ashley is the definition of showing up and putting in the work, no matter what life looks like right now. As a new mom, she brings her baby, stays consistent, and still finds a way to push herself every single workout. What stands out most is her willingness to step outside her comfort zone—she’s constantly trying new movements and taking feedback with a great attitude. It’s been awesome to watch her grow stronger and more confident each week.
How long have you been doing CrossFit?
My dad got me into Crossfit. I started working out with him in 2018 when I was home on college breaks and have continued doing it since then. I go a little stir crazy when I don't workout or move consistently.
Favorite Movement?
My favorite movement is bench press or deadlifts.
What advice would you give to someone who is hesitant to start CrossFit?
I would tell someone who is hesitant to just try it. It scales to whatever you can do and even though it seems scary, your body can do far more than you think it is capable of. I would also say that while yes, you are sore at first, if you are consistent, it doesn't stay forever!
Favorite thing about CCF?
My favorite thing about Crossfit is that anyone and everyone can do it. In the same class, you can have people of all ages and stages of life working out for a variety of reasons.
What do you do when you’re not at CCF (job, hobbies, other fitness, etc)?
When I'm not at Crossfit, I chase after Abigail (my almost 10 month old), teach, read, walk, and have fun with friends and family.
What is your next big fitness goal?
My next big fitness goal is to continue building mobility and strength to keep up with Abigail as she starts walking and getting faster.
