Seamus Gallagher
Coach’s Thoughts: I love having Seamus in class and as part of our community. A lot of the research around longevity points to the same thing: being physically fit and eating well absolutely matter, but having a strong community around you is just as important.
It’s great to see Seamus getting all of that through CCF and even better to see the way he contributes to it. He is always showing up as a kind, thoughtful presence who genuinely makes class better for everyone. It’s been really fun watching how much his movement has improved since he joined. And don’t worry some of us who have been doing this a lot longer still don’t know what all the words mean either : )
How long have you been doing CrossFit?
I started CrossFit about thirteen months ago, in January of last year, during a time when I needed something positive, structured, and challenging in my life for my mental health. CrossFit quickly became a really important part of keeping me grounded, focused, and feeling good. It has been a huge positive in my routine ever since.
Favorite Movement?
My favorite movement is a tie between the pistol squat and the Concept2 BikeErg. The BikeErg reminds me of riding my bike and always gives me a strong sense of accomplishment and confidence.
What advice would you give to someone who is hesitant to start CrossFit?
I’d say just go and do not overthink it. The workouts are structured, the coaches guide you through everything, and it is such a supportive environment. It is a lot more approachable than people might expect, and once you get started, it gets a lot less intimidating.
Favorite thing about CCF?
My favorite thing about CCF is definitely the people. The coaches and community have made me feel really supported individually, and there is something special about doing something challenging together and then carrying that energy into the rest of the day. It is just a really encouraging, fun place to be.
What do you do when you’re not at CCF (job, hobbies, other fitness, etc)?
When I’m not at CCF, I spend most of my time building my small-scale home décor business. I really enjoy designing and making furniture and ceramics, so a lot of my time goes into growing that.
What is your next big fitness goal?
My biggest fitness goal right now is consistency, just continuing to show up, ideally five days a week, and keeping CrossFit as a steady part of my life. It has helped me a lot, and I am excited to keep building on that. :)
