Denny Peterson

Coach’s Thoughts:  Denny shows up with intention and challenges herself each day to be better. She’s been adding weight to her lifts and putting in the extra effort to work toward new skills instead of staying comfortable. That mindset — paired with consistently showing up to class — is what leads to real progress and inspires everyone around her. She is a coach’s dream to work with as she’s always seeking feedback and appreciative of any guidance given. Athlete of the Month well deserved.

  1. How long have you been doing CrossFit?

    I first started CrossFit around 2021 when I lived in DC. It was during covid, I was studying for my first board exam, and figuring out my own workouts everyday wasn't in my bingo cards. I did an intro class at a gym I found walking distance from my apartment, and have been doing it on and off ever since.

  2. Favorite Movement?

    I have a love-hate relationship with the snatch.

  3. What advice would you give to someone who is hesitant to start CrossFit?

    Just try it! It can seem really intimidating at first like many new things. When I started there were many movements I couldn't do at all, or do a lot of- and that was okay. I'm still learning & growing. I've been really grateful to have found this community.

  4. Favorite thing about CCF?

    There's always something to improve on or another way to challenge myself. There are days I need to take it easier and days I really push myself. It's a great lesson in listening to my body and I've become more aware of how everyday choices impact how I show up in the gym. Also, the coaches/CF community are an amazing, understated bonus.

  5. What do you do when you’re not at CCF (job, hobbies, other fitness, etc)?

    I like staying active- biking and running outside when I can, hiking/backpacking. When I'm not moving around I like to travel, hang out with my dog, family/friends, read. You can always get me with a good game night or a good food spot.

  6. What is your next big fitness goal?

    So many. I would say the next is completing a muscle up.
