January 2024 Athlete of the Month

Marissa McCoy

Coach’s Thoughts: Marissa joined CCF this past year coming to us with years of CF experience.  Since joining, we’ve seen her push herself and her upper limits on her workouts.  She chooses workout weights that challenge her while meeting the workout stimulus.  As a busy mom she prioritizes her health and will bring her girls with her to the gym.  Her strength, determination and dedication (even when it’s cold and dark) are an inspiration not only to our members but to her girls.  You can often catch her after class encouraging them in their own little fitness feats.  Congrats, Marissa, on the recognition of your efforts!

  1. How long have you been doing CrossFit?

Doing CrossFit was a requirement to dating Will. Kind of kidding, but not really. Started for love, but stayed for community. My first class was in March 2016 and have been on and off through three babies.

  2. Favorite Movement?

Deadlifts and rowing (strong legs, not as strong arms).

  3. What advice would you give to someone who is hesitant to start CrossFit?

Come as you are and you'll leave better than you came in.

  4. Favorite thing about CCF?

The community is challenging and uplifting. Everyone wants everyone to be the best versions of themselves. And the doggies.

  5. What do you do when you’re not at CCF (job, hobbies, other fitness, etc)?

I help run a Chevy dealership during the day and help run our crazy family of three young children who you'll see in the gym on the weekends. I love to travel, try new restaurants/bars and be outside.

  6. What is your next big fitness goal?

Not peeing during double-unders (see mention of all the babies above). Showing up 4-5 times a week as with consistency comes results. A six pack would be a nice result.
