Florin Hatos
Coach’s Thoughts: I remember the first time I coached Florin. It’s rare to have someone so eager to learn and eager to push themselves to the absolute limit. And in the off chance you do have someone like that, they typically aren’t smiling and happy after the WOD. But that’s just who he is.
Each time Florin has shown up to class, he is always focused on moving better, more efficiently, and trying to learn something new all while getting fitter and doing it with a smile. He’s usually one of the first people to give you a fist bump post WOD, and asks questions about technique because he genuinely wants to learn. He’s a person that a coach likes to coach. Florin, thanks for being a part of our community, well deserved AOTM.
How long have you been doing CrossFit?
I started by attending Susannah’s free SoberWOD class, which has an amazing crew. After that, I decided to sign up in April of last year.
Favorite Movement?
Resting! Jokes aside, I really like RDLs, as well as front and back squats, since I feel my legs are the strongest part of my body. Lately, I have also been practicing rowing more.
What advice would you give to someone who is hesitant to start CrossFit?
I would definitely say try it out. The feeling after finishing a WOD is amazing, and it gives you energy for the whole day—sometimes even the whole weekend. You can always scale everything down as needed, just like I do.
Favorite thing about CCF?
I like pretty much everything about this gym: the equipment, the people in the AM and PM classes, the coaches' knowledge, and the music. I am grateful to be part of such an amazing community where I have made many friends, and I have always felt welcomed here.
What do you do when you’re not at CCF (job, hobbies, other fitness, etc)?
As a hobby, I enjoy playing records. I also like hiking, swimming, and playing soccer on Sundays.
What is your next big fitness goal?
I would like to learn the more technical movements, such as double unders, toes-to-bar, presses, and snatches. I also recently got my blood work done and want to use those results to dial in my nutrition, which will help me improve my overall strength and fitness.
