July 2026 Athlete of the Month

Mattia Pinto

Coach’s Thoughts: Mattia is the kind of athlete every community hopes to have. He shows up with a positive attitude, brings great energy to every class, and has a way of making everyone around him smile. Whether it's with a joke, a laugh, or simply his upbeat personality, he reminds us that fitness is about more than workouts—it's about the people you share them with. Thank you, Mattia, for making our gym a more welcoming, fun, and encouraging place every time you walk through the door!

  1. How long have you been doing CrossFit?

Funny how this question made me go on one of those deep dives into memory lane, and my camera roll reminded me i bought the first pair of Nike Metcons in March 2019 - wow, it's been a minute.

  2. Favorite Movement?

Bar Muscle Ups, there is some thrill factor connected with being able to be up that high using your body only - definitely my biggest achievement.

  3. What advice would you give to someone who is hesitant to start CrossFit?

You only need to show up - the amazing thing is that the community and class dynamics will make it happen! I can't count the amount of times i walked in with a headache after a long day at work and walked out with all the energy to switch up an evening.

Be humble: There is nothing more powerful than knowing when to take a break, scale a movement, reduce the pace. You will thank me later.

  4. Favorite thing about CCF?

It's all about the community: CCF has been able to gift me the most incredible group of friends, that I am lucky enough now to call my Detroit family.

  5. What do you do when you’re not at CCF (job, hobbies, other fitness, etc)?

I am a product strategist for an auto manufacturer headquartered in SoCal, splitting my life between Detroit, Los Angeles for chaotic business trips and New York for love - some weeks it's easier to catch me at the airport than the gym.

  6. What is your next big fitness goal?

I recently realized that I love biking, and I used to swim in college, so I guess it's time for a triathlon: I think it's the coolest thing but I need someone to make me actually commit to it.
